Nirmala took me on a bus ride that went thru Marine Drive and to Mani Bhavan, house of Mahatma Ghandi.
This house has been turned into a museum in honor of Mahatma Gandhi.
It was here that Gandhi initiated his Khadi and Khilafat movements.
One of Mumbai’s pride, this mansion is currently a memorial for this great man.
Typical to India’s reading culture, Mani Bhavan is filled with books. di.
There are also people working to restore and duplicate the writings of Gandhi
Photographs of Mahatma Gandhi lined the walls. This man fought for freedom and equality.
I walked thru the small halls that lead to larger rooms.
I want to work for an India which the poorest shall feel that it is their country whose making they have an effective voice; India which there shall be no high class and low class of people; an India in which all communities shall live in perfect harmony.
This man fought for mankind.
You can imagine him working at his spinning wheel.
I decided to buy a book of his philosophies. It was to help the museum and also to gain some precious insight into what this man thought about the concepts we struggle with daily.
Mani Bhavan entrance is covered by the Mumbai Local tour and you may come here to spend some 15-30 minutes here.
