What makes a good chicken rice? Firstly, the chicken needs to be silky smooth. The meat needs to melt in your mouth.
The rice needs to be buttery and garlicky. It is a symphony of flavors that do not wrestle to outplay the other but tries to be harmonious to the palette.
The soy sauce is the essence of a good chicken rice. It needs to complement the chicken with its sweet and salty flavors that bring out the roast in the chicken.
Pak Kong also serves good skewer barbecued pork ( char siu ) and you can see how rich the slices of pork are rich in flavour and fat.
I love the acar served here. Acar is pickled vegetables (usually cucumber, cabbage) accompanied with nuts.
Another component equally as important is the chilli and ginger sauce. Gives you a sting.
This will be on of my favorite chicken rice restaurants. I highly recommend this place. Located in Ipoh Town.
